Repair & Revive
You don’t have to throw out your clothes just because they’re damaged, don’t fit or you’re just bored of them. There are lots of ways to repair, upcycle or even swap your clothes with other people.
Swishing parties are events where you can swap your clothes with other people. You could do it informally with a group of friends or organise a community event in a local village hall.
If you're hosting a swishing event, tell us!
We live in a throw away culture, an era of mass production and it’s damaging our beautiful and precious planet. Things have to change, the way we live has to change because the way we are currently living is not a sustainable model.
Be part of that change by valuing the items you have worked hard to buy and instead of throwing them away into landfill come along to our Repair Café and see if repair is possible.
Before consigning something to the dustbin ask yourself this - can this be repaired, reused, recycled, repurposed/upcycled?
Simply take along your damaged clothes and experts will help you repair them.
There are a variety of courses to help you learn how to repair and upcycle your clothes. Adult learning from Surrey County Council includes basic sewing courses, dress making, soft furnishings, patchwork, quilting, embroidery and needlecraft. Visit the adult learning website to find out more.
