Designer and Founder: Izzy
Hi! I’m Izzi, the creator of Wanderlust Mumma. It all started just under 4 years ago when my first born was coming up to 7 months old and having tried endless slings and carriers I felt I never found anything that really suited me in terms of comfort, practicality, ease in use and style. I saw a huge gap in the market and made myself my first sling.
Through word of mouth and people stopping to ask were my sling was from, I took a leap and decided to embrace the opportunity to create the brand, Wanderlust Mumma.
Our goal is to put a spin on traditional babywearing with the additional function of style. Our slings allow you to enhance your personal style whilst wearing your baby, not compromise it. I am sure in no time you will be planning outfits around your slings! Our slings will bring you closer to your little ones physically and emotionally whilst being hands free, gives you the freedom and empowerment to take on the day and enjoy lifes little adventures.
Wanderlust Mumma is committed to continually updating our slings in line with the current fashions and trends, introducing new colours, patterns and using the highest quality linens and natural fabrics we can source. We literally spend months and months sourcing fabrics by hand for each collection, talk to our customers about what they would like to see, embark on endless creative briefings, create beautiful fashion sketches of what we wish to achiever then we start building each collection.
Our objective is to provide a carrier that is safe, functional, quick and easy to use and simply stunning in style. Our slings are hand-crafted to a very high quality and made by hand by mums and grandmas who are trained seamstresses and work from home. We love giving other mums and grandmas a chance to work from flexibly from home.
We’re simply committed to providing our customers with a beautiful sling and an amazing service.
Being based deep in the Surrey Hills countryside, nature is one of our biggest inspirations, it is hugely important for us to be eco-friendly and protect our surroundings for our children. Everything we do is mindful, our sling tags are Italian vegan leather, we order our linens in small batches, explore new and upcoming sustainable fabrics such as nettle ramie linen which we now have a collection of slings made in.
We do not use any plastic in our sling making process from the designing to making our packaging. We are proudly totally plastic free. "
Linen’s Eco Credentials:
-Flax is a strong plant best grown in northern Europe.
-It needs little or no fertilisers and due to the local climate, little extra water.
-It doesn’t require pesticides
-The Advisory Commission Report to the European Parliament stated that flax cultivation has positive effects on eco-system diversity as it allows for an “environmental pause”.
-One hectare of flax can retain 3.7 tonnes of CO2.
-Every part of the plant is used, what isn’t used to produce linen can be used to make linseed oil, paper, cattle feed or even soap.
-Linen is therefore almost naturally organic.
-It is completely biodegradable, recyclable and due to its natural absorbency, it requires less dye than cotton.
-Linen scores high on the ecological chart.
